You're Not Perfect--And That Makes Me Happy

Anthony is my husband, and I love him. I love him despite the fact he thinks he's right all the time, acts like he's been a father for a million years, and doesn't put his belts or shoes in the closet WHERE THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO GO. Despite his delusions of grandeur, Anthony is really a wonderful man. So wonderful I thought he was close to perfect when I met him. So perfect I thought I had to be perfect too, but you all know how that story ends up. Anyway, I digress.

Recently, I found out something about Anthony that is delighfully disturbing. Anthony makes mistakes! Anthony isn't perfect! Can you believe that? I had a hard time believing it myself until he started making them right in front of me. Like one time last week, I didn't want to go to church, and he said we didn't have to. BIG MISTAKE! Anthony should know that as the patriarch and "leader" of the family, it is his responsibility to lead our heathen family back into Jesus' fold. Boy did he mess up on that one. Don't tell him though, I would like to think that if he doesn't see the err of his ways--he may just let us have an obligation free Sunday again someday.

Another mistake he made was letting his back talking, authority questioning, junior high rebel self out of the bag. I had no idea he had it in him, but apparently the officials at the Big West Conference (yeah, I had no idea what the eff this "Big West" was either until I married Ant) got a taste of my little trouble maker. They were so impressed they issued this press release:

BIG WEST CONFERENCE REPRIMANDS CAL STATE FULLERTON ASSISTANT VOLLEYBALL COACH

IRVINE, CA--The Big West Conference today reprimanded Cal State Fullerton
assistant volleyball coach Anthony Mirabal for his actions both during and
following two recent Titan matches.

As reported to the conference office, Mirabal verbally confronted officials
during and after the Titans¹ Oct. 29 match against UC Davis and again at their
Nov. 5 match at UC Santa Barbara. In the UC Davis contest, Mirabal received a
red card for arguing a call and later shouted at the officials as they were
making their way to the locker room following the match.

At UC Santa Barbara, Mirabal confronted the officials as they were leaving the
court to loudly complain about a match-ending line call.

In announcing the reprimand, Big West Commissioner Dennis Farrell said that
Mirabal¹s public display was unacceptable. "Mr. Mirabal¹s behavior was
disrespectful and confrontational to the match officials in both contests. The
Big West Conference does not tolerate this type of sportsmanship."

Good Lord, not only is Anthony human, he's a trouble making human. You know what the funny thing is, I get turned on every time I read this press release. My husband, the mistake-making rebel.

I don't care what the Big West says, Anthony, you can disrespect and verbally confront me anyday.
That last line was so dysfunctional.
